Serving Frontline Workers, Strengthening Organizational Construction

"Since the trade union was established on the project, we have had a handle on serving frontline workers. Jiangxi Construction Second Construction Trade Union has established a complete grassroots trade union system both inside and outside the province and even overseas. In particular, in the construction of project trade unions, full coverage has been achieved. In recent years, more than ten project trade unions have been established, continuously improving the learning, living, and working environments of projects and enhancing the sense of belonging among employees. In 2023, Jiangxi Construction Second Construction Trade Union held a badminton competition, using the project's self-built indoor badminton court to set up a competition area to facilitate the participation of employees from surrounding projects in the qualifying rounds. For projects that do not yet meet the conditions for establishing a trade union, Jiangxi Construction Second Construction manages its members through three categories of project (joint) trade unions: directly managed, in-province, and out-of-province, ensuring that every employee enjoys the due benefits and care.

Focusing on Urgent, Difficult, and Worrisome Issues; Employee Rights First

"The food in the canteen is getting better and better, and there are new dishes." "We're getting fatter and fatter…" In the canteen of Jiangxi Construction Second Construction, people often say this. This is inseparable from the hard work of the canteen staff and the management of the dietary committee. In 2022, the Jiangxi Construction Second Construction Trade Union established a dietary management committee. By regularly collecting employee feedback and holding meetings, it synchronously optimizes the dishes and services of the self-service canteen.

Since 1982, Jiangxi Construction Second Construction has consistently upheld the system of workers' congresses, holding one to two congresses annually to hear employee suggestions and deliberate on administrative, trade union, and financial work reports, as well as major matters concerning the vital interests of employees. It effectively implements the systems of employee directors and employee supervisors and maintains open factory affairs to ensure the implementation of relevant systems and the effective protection of employee rights. For example, in 2023, based on the actual needs of the majority of employees, Jiangxi Construction Second Construction invested more than 38,000 yuan to replace the filter cores of 39 water purifiers in the office building, ensuring the drinking water safety and health of employees; it added multiple charging piles, effectively solving the problem of inconvenience for employees charging electric vehicles. Also, in view of a food poisoning incident at a certain brand of cake shop, the Jiangxi Construction Second Construction Trade Union, taking a highly responsible attitude towards the life safety and health of employees, acted swiftly and promptly terminated its cooperation with the shop, choosing another reputable and reliable cake shop as its new supplier.

Carrying Out Heartwarming Activities, Care Without Limits

"Thank you for Jiangxi Construction Second Construction's help; otherwise, my whole family would have had a hard time." Wan Deliang's wife presented a banner to Jiangxi Construction Second Construction. On October 14, 2022, upon receiving news of the sudden death of company employee Wan Deliang, the Jiangxi Construction Second Construction Trade Union immediately went to his home to assist his family in handling funeral arrangements and immediately issued a letter of appeal for love, calling on everyone to help Wan Deliang's family, who had elderly parents and young children, overcome the difficulties. After just a few days of fundraising, a total of 100,400 yuan was raised and immediately delivered to Wan Deliang's wife.

According to incomplete statistics, from 2020 to 2024, Jiangxi Construction Second Construction has continuously provided condolences to employees in difficulty, strengthened the management of the charity relief association, and organized fundraising activities, raising nearly 100,000 yuan each time to help many employees and their families facing special difficulties.

Since 1977, to protect the occupational safety and health of employees and ensure the physical and mental health of frontline production employees, the Jiangxi Construction Second Construction Trade Union has organized party and government leaders to go to construction sites every summer to carry out "sending coolness" activities, sending heatstroke prevention and cooling materials to frontline employees to ensure their safe summer. After the enterprise restructuring, Jiangxi Construction Second Construction increased its efforts. From 2010 to 2024, it has continuously carried out "sending coolness" activities in representative projects inside and outside the province, providing condolences to nearly 2,000 people annually and distributing materials worth nearly 100,000 yuan. Jiangxi Construction Second Construction Trade Union regularly carries out various condolence activities, such as physical examinations, free clinics, and condolences for childbirth, birthdays, and hospitalization.

Since 1980, subsidies have been provided to employees with special difficulties. For example, after the Jiujiang Chemical Fiber Factory fire in 1986, the Jiangxi Construction Second Construction Trade Union quickly resolved the living problems of the affected employees. Jiangxi Construction Second Construction adjusted the standard of employee funeral subsidies and launched the "Sending Warmth" activity in 1992 to ensure the standardization of relief work. In 1997, the "Sending Warmth Project" benefited more than 1,500 people. In 1998, a re-employment service center was established, and the amount of condolences that year reached more than 130,000 yuan. In 2013, an employee love mutual aid foundation was established to focus on helping employees in special difficulties.

Building Corporate Culture, Enhancing Quality of Life

"Thank you for the company's summer care program, which has solved our worries and allowed us to work with peace of mind." In the summers of 2023 and 2024, the Jiangxi Construction Second Construction Trade Union offered a two-month summer care program for the children of employees, solving the worries of more than 30 young "parents." It also created a well-equipped mother and baby room to provide convenience for breastfeeding female employees.

To enrich the cultural life of its employees, the Jiangxi Construction Engineering No. 2 Construction Trade Union established an employee activity center exceeding 1000 square meters in the office building. It includes a library, reading room, yoga room, table tennis room, billiards room, and gym, organically combining employee education with sports and leisure. Several interest groups have been formed, including yoga, basketball, and badminton. 50,000 to 60,000 yuan in special activity funds are allocated annually to ensure regular training and competitions. Employees' athletic skills have significantly improved, achieving remarkable results in the Provincial Employee Games and various cultural and sports competitions within the group.

In addition, the Jiangxi Construction Engineering No. 2 Construction Trade Union regularly organizes various recreational activities such as spring outings, autumn outings, tug-of-war, fishing, and walking, as well as cultural and sports activities such as knowledge competitions, speech contests, and themed essay writing. For six consecutive years, they have organized "Spring Festival Couplet Writing and Distribution" activities to celebrate the New Year, and for three consecutive years, they have held "Fragrant Rice Dumplings" rice dumpling-making activities during the Dragon Boat Festival.

Meanwhile, the Jiangxi Construction Engineering No. 2 Construction Trade Union, focusing on central production work, has established a model worker innovation studio, actively promoting advanced experience and technology. It consistently holds labor (skills) competitions in provincial and extra-provincial projects, innovatively creating a "Four Guarantees and One Promotion" labor competition model, mobilizing and organizing employees to participate in production and construction, effectively improving employee innovation capabilities and work efficiency.

Fulfilling Social Responsibilities and Demonstrating the Responsibility of a State-Owned Enterprise

In 2020, during the initial outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, Jiangxi Construction Engineering No. 2 actively responded to the national call, undertaking the construction of the Xiang Hu Branch of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University. The trade union quickly mobilized resources to support the project's construction. Upon resumption of work and production, the Jiangxi Construction Engineering No. 2 Construction Trade Union immediately launched an epidemic prevention and control survey and provided timely care and condolences to personnel fighting on the front lines of prevention and control. In the past three years, it has purchased computers for a certain community and repaired residents' homes, donating a total of more than 80,000 yuan; actively participated in the "Sound Heart, I Am Your Eyes" public reading activity of the provincial disabled cultural week; and irregularly joined forces with the company's Youth League Committee to visit nearby impoverished primary schools, carrying out public welfare donation activities and giving the children school bags, sportswear, and calligraphy copybooks.
