Tang Yong, Executive Deputy General Manager of Jiangxi Jianguang First Construction Co., Ltd., a member of the Communist Party of China, senior engineer, national registered Class I constructor, graduated from Nanjing Institute of Architecture with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, born in 1974.
In the 20 years since he started working, Tang Yong has transformed from a naive engineering graduate to a seasoned professional through his hard work on various projects, starting as an assistant construction worker and steadily rising to become a key construction worker, technical backbone, project manager, grassroots unit head, assistant general manager, deputy general manager, and finally executive deputy general manager in 2014. Numerous awards along the way testify to his growth: He has been recognized as an exemplary employee of the company, the group's "Youth Dedication Model," the group's "Outstanding Communist Party Member," and an "Outstanding Communist Party Member" by the Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission. His growth trajectory is as rich as his name implies.
From Assistant Construction Worker to Project Technical Backbone
Time flies. In July 1994, after graduating from university, Tang Yong was assigned to Jiangxi Province's No. 1 Construction Company. Carrying his youthful dream of "changing the world with construction and singing the praises of the future," he dove into project work, officially beginning his career in construction. Starting as an assistant construction worker, Tang Yong, the engineering graduate, learned and reflected throughout the process. He emphasized the combination of theory and practice, proactively communicating with project management, operations staff, and the design unit during construction, summarizing successes and shortcomings and promptly providing feedback on design flaws. As the project progressed, he recorded various technical issues and their solutions. This significantly improved his understanding of systematic construction methods and design knowledge, and his personal experience and technical skills grew rapidly. After several projects, he quickly progressed from assistant construction worker and key construction worker to project technical director.
From Technical Backbone to Project Management "Star"
Tang Yong considered being an excellent technical backbone merely one phase of his career; his ideal was to become a versatile construction professional with expertise in technology, management, and business. To this end, he diligently studied project management knowledge, actively participated in market operations, and constantly improved himself. When he first encountered on-site production management, he faced various challenges, including project safety, quality planning, technical solutions, internal coordination, and external relations. However, he did not retreat but communicated and collaborated with relevant personnel and departments. His diligent study and preparation allowed him to quickly find solutions, make reasonable adjustments and allocations, and manage the process meticulously, ensuring every stage was closely linked.
As project manager for the BF4 contract section of Jiujing Expressway building and auxiliary projects, he proposed using soft ground dynamic compaction instead of the original design of pebble compaction piles, which reduced costs by over 300,000 yuan. The owner adopted his proposal after comparison. The proposal was later published in "Jiujing Expressway," a book published by the People's Transportation Publishing House and edited by the Jiujing Expressway Project Construction Command of the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Transportation. The project received an excellent rating during the Ministry of Transport's acceptance of the highway, and Tang Yong was awarded the title of "Advanced Individual." As a project manager, he has earned three outstanding project awards from the Ministry of Transport, and many provincial and municipal awards. He is considered the company's project management "star." In 200_ , Tang Yong was appointed deputy manager of the branch company.
Managing Over 100 Projects and Showcasing Company's Technical Prowess
In August 2009, the company completed its restructuring. In September, Tang Yong was transferred to the position of manager of the company's in-province engineering management company, a newly established department responsible for managing the company's in-province projects. Upon taking office, he initiated the development of the "Regulations for In-province Engineering Management," clarifying the company's management system for projects and detailing its approach to organization, quality and technology, scheduling, safety and civilized construction, as well as inspections and rewards and punishments. He also established standardized project management procedures, enabling project managers to transition from passive to proactive management. This also allowed the company to fully understand the quality, safety, progress, and debt situations of all in-province projects, effectively mitigating various risks.
In 2010, the vitality of the company's restructured systems and mechanisms became rapidly apparent. Coupled with the growth of China's construction market, the company's business volume rapidly increased, with the number of in-province projects exploding. The company experienced rapid development, with newly signed contracts reaching 3 billion yuan in 2010, 6 billion yuan in 2011, 10 billion yuan in 2012, and 13 billion yuan in 2013. The company showed strong growth and entered its peak period. The number of in-province projects increased from over 20 in 2010 to over 40 in 2011, over 90 in 2012, and over 120 in 2013, with an annual output value of nearly 6 billion yuan. However, the increase in the number of in-province project management personnel was far less than the increase in the number of projects. Despite this significant understaffing and heavy workload, Tang Yong effectively overcame challenges, including personnel shortages, large geographical distances of projects, and complex situations, by deploying experienced project managers, collaborating with functional departments such as the company's safety and quality management departments, and conducting regular joint site inspections. This enabled him to effectively monitor the progress of all projects, resulting in a 100% project quality pass rate and no major safety incidents. While managing existing projects, Tang Yong also integrated resources and expanded business channels, personally undertaking millions of yuan in business each year, becoming a multi-talented individual in the company with expertise in technology, management, and operations.
Continuously Challenging Himself, Aiming for Limitless Courage
His experience in technical management, construction production management, and grassroots leadership, particularly as manager of the in-province engineering management company, highlighted Tang Yong's outstanding comprehensive abilities, and brought him to the attention of the company's leadership. He was promoted to Assistant General Manager and Manager of the In-Province Engineering Management Company in late 2012, and then to Deputy General Manager in late 2013, while still serving as manager of the In-Province Engineering Management Company.
Despite his busy schedule, Tang Yong continued to challenge himself, pursuing continuous learning and self-improvement. As a leader from a professional technical background, he never allowed himself to lag behind or slack off, continuously honing his expertise. He obtained professional qualifications as a registered Class I constructor in both architecture and municipal engineering. He also actively kept abreast of current affairs and political, economic, and management theory, improving his theoretical understanding, political awareness, and overall capabilities while putting the scientific outlook on development into practice. In his daily work, he is diligent, dedicated, modest, and self-disciplined, caring about colleagues and demonstrating the exemplary role of a Party cadre. He enjoys high prestige among employees and made a profound impression on group leaders. At the end of 2014, he was promoted to Executive Deputy General Manager.
Tang Yong always possesses a driving force pushing him forward; a passion that invigorates him; and a belief that makes him unstoppable.
